This particular book is from the etsy labs here.
Anyway, I used this youtube tutorial to do it and while I find following a video kind of weird - it is really easy. One thing I'd say is that the thicker the book - the better it looks.
It's so easy and quick you could just have a go for fun by folding some drawing paper in half and designing a cover (christmas presents, hehe). It might not be polished enough for your final product but could be a quicker way of making a mock up etc?
Anyway, get this stuff together:
• Paper (folded) and arranged into signatures (groups of pages - about 4 sheets to each signature)
• Yellow pages or other beasty phone book (use this open to hold your pages while you stab the holes in).
• A ruler (for measuring the distance between holes)
• A big needle
• Two pieces of card or wood or anything else hard for the cover
• Thick thread (embroidery thread would work but even better would be waxed thread or something really strong).
• A ruler (for measuring the distance between holes)
• Superglue or clear nail varnish (to finish off your knots)
Tips: Coptic binding seems to look better the more signatures you have
Be careful pulling your thread through so you don't tear the holes
Take your time making a guide for your holes and making sure all the holes in each page line up with each other.
And watch the video.
I know - I'm a nerd!
